Mu Phi Epsilon collection, 1947-1954.

This collection consists of materials which were originally part of one scrapbook devoted to the NEC chapter (Beta) of the musical sorority, Mu Phi Epsilon. The collection includes concert/recital programs of NEC members, by-laws, meeting minutes, brochures, articles about the sorority, excerpts from the sorority publication, the Triangle, newspaper clippings, personal memorabilia, and a few photographs.

Mu Phi Epsilon, a national music sorority promoting musicianship and friendship among women undergraduates in the U.S. was founded at the Metropolitan College of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio in November 1903. New England Conservatory's Beta chapter was founded soon after but dissolved quickly. The Beta Chapter was reinstated at NEC in 1909 and apparently remained active until the late 1960s or early 1970s.
